We acquired this charming spinet piano from United Churches of Olympia, where it lived for many years in the downstairs fellowship hall. When the church received a newer mid‑sized grand piano, they were delighted to pass this instrument along — and we were equally happy to give it a new life.

The 1950s were the golden era of spinet pianos. During this period, manufacturers took these compact instruments seriously, and many were built with remarkable craftsmanship. Spinets sometimes get an undeserved reputation, but that’s usually because they require specialized care: thoughtful voicing to bring out their singing tone, and tuning techniques that go beyond what electronic devices alone can provide. When properly serviced, a good spinet can be a wonderfully musical and responsive instrument.
